It doesn’t matter whether a patient is interested in a rhinoplasty for structural and medical reasons, or if a patient wants a nose job done for cosmetic reasons, there is still a period of recovery that must be considered. Dr. Kevin Sadati finds that patients who are mentally prepared ahead of time for the recovery process ultimately have better results throughout it. As an expert facial plastic surgeon, Dr. Sadati knows that the recovery is key to the ultimate success of the procedure. Patients need to rest and recuperate in order to feel their best, look their best and avoid a revision procedure.
Dr. Sadati informs Orange County patients who come to his Newport Beach practice that they will be spending anywhere from 7 to 10 days recovering from their surgery. Their appearance immediately following the operation can be shocking, as a nasal splint covers the nose and the patient can often see bruising and swelling on their face. Patients should not be discouraged, the bruising and swelling on the face will decrease quickly, especially if they follow the post-operative instructions given to them by Dr. Sadati.
In order to help reduce the appearance of bruising and swelling, Dr. Sadati often recommends that the patient takes both pre-operative and post-operative measures. For two weeks leading up to the operation, patients should not take any blood-thinning products, which include aspirin, ibuprofen, naproxen sodium, garlic pills, ginseng and vitamin E. Patients should be vigilant after the surgery is complete, and must keep their head slightly elevated. Cold compresses and ice packs can minimize pain and reduce swelling at the same time, so Dr. Sadati recommends them for the first 48 hours after the surgery. Herbal supplements can be taken after the surgery as well to help. Dr. Sadati recommends supplements such as Arnica Montana and Bromelain.
One of Dr. Sadati’s priorities in his practice is respecting each patient as an individual. Noting individual surgeries vary based on technique, procedure and personal factors, Dr. Sadati recognizes that personal recovery instructions should be provided to each patient. Every patient receives a set of customized post-operative instructions designed to provide them the best results after their surgery. Any patient who feels difficulty during the recovery process should contact the office at any time, as a member of the surgical team and office staff will be happy to assist you in any way.
